If I ever get a dedicated server, what would be the main thing that I will have to take care?

I'm on shared hosting now and I have no headache - everything is taken care of by the company I guess. I was wondering what I would be required or expected to do with a dedicated? Do I have to manage it myself? If yes, what do they mean exactly by "managing" it? What falls into this category?

Thank you.

It depands, if you take a Unmanaged Ded. u need to take care of it, means, Upgrading Kernel, PHP, Perl blabla CPanel and all those things...

If u take a managed server, where you bought ur Box, they are taking care of everything, Upgrading PHP, Perl and taking care on the other main things :p

you are always better off with unmanaged servers unless your too much of a newbie.. and there are still places that give u free support. I rather do it all my self. You actually learn from it.
